Job Description
We are seeking a skilled professional for a 3-month contract assignment in Watertown, CT 06795, offering $35/hr. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the reliability, safety, and optimal performance of production equipment and facility systems. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently or as part of a team, with strong troubleshooting abilities and hands-on expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid-handling systems. This position requires someone capable of performing preventive and corrective maintenance, addressing equipment issues quickly, and supporting continuous plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain production equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid-handling systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and corrective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Respond promptly to emergency repairs and make necessary adjustments while production lines are running.
- Execute smooth and efficient equipment changeovers to support operational needs.
- Fabricate or modify equipment to improve performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical issues effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain equipment to ensure maximum reliability and the highest quality production output.
- Support facility maintenance and daily operations of all plant equipment.
- Accurately document maintenance activities and prepare operating standards or procedures.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding equipment needs and technical updates.
- Perform daily start-up and shut-down procedures for plant equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Work safely with machinery using chemicals including caustics, acids, and ammonia.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience in production equipment maintenance, preferably in food or beverage manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and ladder logic programs.
- Experience with Allen Bradley or GE PLC software tools and Windows-based programs preferred.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Skilled in electrical power/control systems, mechanical repair, and fluid-handling systems.
- Experience with industrial machinery, welding, and electrical work.
- Plumbing and HVAC experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift at least 60 lbs;bend, stoop, climb ladders, and stand/walk for long periods.
- Personal tools may be required depending on site needs.
- Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and flexibility when priorities change.
- Must be available for overtime when needed.
- Technical trade school or Millwright certification preferred.
- Forklift experience required at select locations.
