Job Description


We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist II to support Machine Shop operations in Pasadena, TX 77507. This position offers a pay rate of $27.00/hour and is a 12-month contract with potential Temp-to-Perm opportunity. In this role, you will operate conventional (manual) lathes and/or mills, hold tight tolerances to meet OEM requirements, and interpret complex blueprints and specifications. The ideal candidate brings strong manual machining expertise, GD&T knowledge, and the ability to independently set up and run equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting the energy industry.



Schedule
  • Monday Friday
  • 1st Shift: 7: 00 AM 3: 30 PM
  • Overtime as needed



Key Responsibilities
  • Support and promote a strong safety culture and safe-to-start mindset
  • Operate conventional manual machining equipment, including lathes and mills
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, OEM specifications, and sample parts
  • Determine machining sequences, setup requirements, and tolerances
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions
  • Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials
  • Work with mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers
  • Interpret OEM drawings, REIs, work instructions, and digital routers
  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles
  • Perform independent machine setups and support production based on customer needs



Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3+ years of related manual machining experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven ability to independently operate manual lathes and/or mills
  • Experience with 3-jaw and 4-jaw chucks
  • Ability to hold tolerances of .001 .003
  • Experience working with exotic metals
  • Proficient in tapping, drilling, chasing lead threads, and compounding angles
  • Strong understanding of machine shop math, algebra, and geometry
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information



Skills & Competencies
  • Advanced to expert-level skill with conventional manual machining
  • Ability to perform own setups
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and precision

Work Environment
  • Fast-paced, noisy machine shop environment
  • Regular lifting and/or moving of 50 100 lbs
