Procurement Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sourcing Specialist to join our team in Houston, TX 77073. This is a 12-month contract position paying $35.00 per hour, with a potential temp-to-perm opportunity based on performance and business needs. The ideal candidate will have experience with purchasing, sourcing, supplier coordination, and ERP systems, particularly Oracle. In this role, you will create and manage Purchase Orders, review requisitions, coordinate with suppliers, support production planning, manage Blanket Purchase Orders, and help expedite materials to meet business and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in Oracle.
- Review and validate requisitions (PORs) before creating POs.
- Confirm supplier setup and availability within Oracle.
- Navigate multiple Oracle screens to review PO history and inventory/supply-and-demand information.
- Provide accurate PO and material status updates to planners.
- Support production meetings by preparing PO and part-status reports, typically using Excel.
- Manage Blanket Purchase Orders (BPOs), including releases, expediting, and payment follow-up.
- Maintain regular communication with approximately 5 key suppliers while supporting a broader supplier network.
- Support farm-out and repair activities involving approximately 20 suppliers over short-cycle projects.
- Communicate with suppliers through email and Microsoft Teams to request quotes, expedite materials, and clarify requirements.
- Prepare and follow up on RFQs and supplier requests.
- Maintain accurate documentation and PO attachments to ensure proper auditability and compliance.
- Collaborate with planners, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve purchasing and material-related issues.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in sourcing, procurement, purchasing, or supply chain.
- Experience creating and managing Purchase Orders.
- Experience working with Oracle or a similar ERP/procurement system.
- Strong Excel skills and experience preparing reports or status updates.
- Experience working directly with suppliers and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong follow-up and expediting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve purchasing or supplier-related issues.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
