We are looking for a dedicated Funeral Attendant in Brownsville Texas 78521 with $10.00/hr pay for a 6 month contract, temp role opportunity. This role plays a vital role in supporting funeral services by assisting before, during, and after visitations and ceremonies. Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and prepare chapels, visitation rooms, and graveside areas, including chairs, flowers, guest books, caskets, urns, and memorial items.
- Greet and assist families, guests, and clergy during visitations and services.
- Escort families and pallbearers and provide direction as needed during services.
- Assist with preparing caskets and the deceased for visitation or funeral services, including adjusting clothing and jewelry.
- Place, move, and remove caskets, urns, and floral arrangements safely and respectfully.
- Serve as a pallbearer when required.
- Drive company vehicles, including hearses or family cars, as needed.
- Transport documents, flowers, family mementos, and related items to and from service locations.
- Assist with transporting the deceased to the funeral home when required.
- Clean and maintain service areas, equipment, and vehicles before and after services.
- Wash, fuel, and inspect vehicles to ensure they are ready for use.
- Support funeral directors and staff with general logistical and administrative tasks.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver s license with a good driving record, if driving duties are assigned.
- Ability to maintain a calm, respectful, and professional demeanor in sensitive situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on compassion and customer service.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift moderate weight, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and overnight hours.
- Previous customer service or hospitality experience preferred;funeral service experience is a plus.
