RIGHTSTONE IS HIRING! We are looking for a Geothermal Drilling Manager in The Woodlands, Texas 77380. This offers $50/hr., with an initial contract duration of 6-months and a potential renewal. In this high-impact leadership position, you will manage multiple well sites, guide wellsite supervisors, and serve as the key liaison between field operations, internal teams, and clients. Your focus will be on driving operational excellence, maintaining rigorous HSE standards, and ensuring flawless service delivery across all projects. - APPLY NOW!




Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 40 hours/week on a rotation schedule 

 

Responsibilities 
  • Lead and enforce a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture across all wellsite operations. 
  • Manage and mentor I&S Wellsite Supervisors, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution of all drilling activities. 
  • Oversee geothermal and conventional drilling operations, including well planning, drill string design, hydraulics, and fluid management. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and contractors, maintaining clear communication and strong professional relationships. 
  • Monitor rig performance, coordinate equipment inspections, and ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards. 
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning in collaboration with the Project and Operations Managers. 
  • Investigate safety incidents, implement corrective actions, and promote a proactive safety culture. 
  • Coach and assess field personnel competencies and recommend training to improve performance and compliance. 
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and adoption of new technologies in rig operations. 

 

Knowledge and Skills 
  • Has advanced understanding of directional drilling including horizontal and Extended Reach wells, cementing, casing/liner running, and fishing. 
  • Has advanced understanding of Rig Systems and Rig Floor Operations. 
  • Provides resolution to a diverse scope and range of complex problems at the well site where analysis of data requires having a broad knowledge of the product line tool(s) and/or services and wellsite operations. 
  • Coordinates several rigs simultaneously. 
  • Supports implementation of new technologies and processes in rig operations. 
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills. Proven analytical and organizational ability. 
  • Provides advice and direction to customers and third-party wellsite resources as appropriate. 
  • Ensures rigs under supervision to operate in accordance with contractual obligations and relevant legal and regulatory requirements. 
  • Acts as front-line training coach and assessor for rig personnel 
  • Appraises the training needs of the field personnel and makes recommendations to management to allow the necessary training to be provided. 
  • Supports and implements the Competency System for senior positions and identifies areas of strength and development. 
  • Assessor for the field supervisors in line with the competency system. 

 

Qualifications 
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (required). 
  • 20+ years of relevant experience, including 10+ years as a Wellsite Leader and 5+ years in geothermal drilling. 
  • Valid Level 4 IWCF Well Control Certificate (or equivalent to geothermal operations). 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple rigs simultaneously. 
  • Proven expertise in directional drilling, rig systems, casing/liner operations, and well-controlled best practices. 
  • Advanced understanding of drilling fluids, hydraulics, downhole dynamics, and geothermal-specific challenges (e.G., high-temperature zones). 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital reporting tools;strong data and presentation skills.
